Job Summary
Support English Language Learners by reinforcing classroom concepts, adapting instructional materials to proficiency levels, and assisting with digital learning. Monitor student behavior, maintain discipline, and ensure safety while providing academic language support under an ESL specialist's direction. Perform clerical duties including grading, attendance tracking, and filing incident reports, plus drive a bus when needed. Maintain strict confidentiality and participate in professional development. Serve as a substitute teacher when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college or university
- Bus license required within the first year of employment
- Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with students
- General knowledge of methods of adapting instruction for students with limited English proficiency
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to read high school texts and explain content to students with limited English proficiency
