Job Summary

Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons following the YES USA curriculum while evaluating student progress and maintaining attendance records. Act in loco parentis to supervise student discipline, welfare, and safety, ensuring adherence to the Student Code of Conduct and managing incidents by reporting them to management. Lead off-site excursions by researching cultural sites, supervising students, and sharing historical information, while coordinating on-campus activities like music nights and food distributions. Prepare for student arrivals with orientation and tours, and assist with check-outs and airport transfers. Commit to extended hours including weekends and holidays, with classes starting as early as 8:30am and excursions ending as late as 10:30pm. Submit weekly evaluation reports and receipts for vendors promptly.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in TESOL, linguistics, or English
  • ESL teaching certificate, such as Cambridge CELTA or its equivalent
  • Prior ESL experience of teaching teenagers
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • A good sense of direction and a strong knowledge of the city and its surroundings, including the public transportation system
  • Commitment to working extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to ensure program success
  • Willingness to work long hours as classes could begin as early as 8:30am and excursions could end as late as 10:30pm
  • Teaching Hours: 30 hours in a 2-week period
  • Excursion/Activity Hours: 78 hours in a 2-week period
  • At least one full day off per week
  • On-campus housing in a shared dorm (Residential Staff Only)
