Job Summary
ESL Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor delivers live virtual ESL/EFL/ESP instruction to a diverse, international student body, covering listening, reading, speaking, and writing, with instruction aligned to a designated POI and assessed via ILR or equivalent measures. Responsibilities include developing/adjusting lesson plans and materials, reviewing/grading assignments, providing student feedback, counseling for remedial/enrichment training, maintaining a professional virtual learning environment, and collaborating with site leads and instructional developers. Requires experience with online platforms (e.g., CL-150, Blackboard, Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Teams), ability to tailor lessons to varied proficiency levels (ILR 0+ to 3+), and strong communication skills. Must be a U.S. citizen with a four-year degree or equivalent education/experience in ESL/EFL/TESOL or related fields; proficiency in English, cultural awareness of international military students, and access to necessary technology for virtual instruction. Part-time on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA (on-site) with no relocation or sponsorship details specified.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Native or near-native proficiency in English with strong understanding of English grammar, usage, and American culture.
- Experience in providing various levels of ESL/EFL/ESP instruction through a virtual environment.
- Understanding of diverse cultural, social, and religious backgrounds of international military students.
- Experience in creating blended learning lessons and the ability to tailor existing materials to fit the customer's needs and expectations.
- Instructor must have access to a Windows computer, webcam, headset with a microphone, a phone or smart tablet, and a high-speed internet connection.
- A four-year degree with core coursework in ESL/EFL/TESOL or related field OR a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge.
