ESH Specialist, Environmental focus

Job Summary

Conduct plant inspections and lead audits to ensure environmental, health, and safety compliance with federal and state regulations. Coordinate PSSR evaluations for equipment startup and shutdown activities while monitoring the LDAR program and managing RCRA waste disposal protocols. Represent the facility with outside regulatory agencies, complete incident investigations, and deliver safety training programs to personnel. Maintain equipment calibration records, manage emergency response supplies, and document all safety incidents and corrective actions. Work year-round in all weather conditions, including nights and weekends, while wearing required PPE for hazardous material exposure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or more advanced degree in Chemical, Environmental or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of related ESH work experience in a high volume chemical/petrochemical manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading or participating in PHAs, incident investigations, PSSRs, and implementing corrective measures to improve site safety processes
  • Compliance experience with both TCEQ, EPA, and other regulatory requirements for hazardous materials manufacturing
  • Practical experience and training in hazardous waste handling, air permits, water compliance, and other environmental topics
  • Must have a safety mindset and work well with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to lead meetings and deliver presentations
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects, manage conflicts and provide resolution using a combination of technical skills, teamwork, and personal credibility
  • Ability to inspect, test, monitor, or measure safe environmental levels for hazardous materials
  • Ability to evaluate observed conditions and provide recommendations
  • Emergency response experience
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills using Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory environmental standards
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Capable of developing ESH training subject modules, and procedures accessing/using company training portals, client portals/share-drives, Government/State agency regulations/guidelines along with utilizing personal job-related experiences
  • Capable of presenting ESH related training materials to small groups through a class-room setting to include utilizing hands-on illustrations
  • Must have the ability to wear and utilize required PPE due to potential exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials
  • Must be able to work outside year around in all weather conditions, may include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Must be able to work at heights, ascend/descend stairs, ladders, elevated walkways, and walk, stand, stoop for extended periods of time, enter tight congested areas to include awkward positions and lift up to 50 pounds
