Job Summary
Conduct ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards, evaluate controls, and assess compliance with regulatory and project requirements. Prepare and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, including associated procedures and training programs. Interpret safety requirements to provide input on bid decisions and integrate safety into engineering, construction, and procurement planning. Lead meetings with stakeholders, subcontractors, and customers to resolve concerns and track performance trends. Participate in emergency response, incident investigations, and program audits while researching complex regulatory issues. Work flexible schedules including night shifts or split shifts in high-heat construction environments, utilizing appropriate PPE. Bilingual Spanish/English required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health
- 5-8 years of relevant experience
- 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Specialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, People Based Safety) or engineering (e.g., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines
- Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies
- Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies' permitting processes and responsibilities
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes
- Skilled in oral and written communication
- Knowledge of computer applications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., safety, industrial engineering, public health) or process/mechanical engineering
- some practical work experience in the discipline performing the responsibilities listed above
- Bilingual (Spanish / English)
- Physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions
- climbing ladders
- climbing scaffolding
- working on elevated platforms
- working on uneven surfaces
- working in small or confined spaces
- ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress)
- ability to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
- willingness to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift or split shift
