ERS-NETA Electrical Testing Technician

Job Summary
Conduct acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV, including short circuit, arc flash, and power quality analysis. Test and calibrate protective relays, perform insulation resistance testing on transformers and switchgear, and interpret results to author engineering reports. Troubleshoot complex electrical failures under time-critical conditions while mentoring Level I/II technicians and serving as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams. Maintain strict compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements. Requires NETA Level III/IV certification, 7+ years of hands-on experience, and willingness to travel up to 75%. Join ERS, a Vertiv division serving critical infrastructure including data centers and utilities, with compensation up to $110/hour.
Required Qualifications
- NETA Level III or Level IV Certification (current and in good standing)
- 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments
- Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards
- Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalent
- Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%)
Desired Qualifications

- Experience with SF6 breaker maintenance
- Power systems engineering or related degree
- Prior leadership/supervisory experience on testing projects
- Experience in data center, utility, or industrial critical power environments
