Ergonomic Lead Engineer

Job Summary
Lead occupant packaging and ergonomic layout for vehicle programs, ensuring alignment with brand DNA, user comfort, and performance targets. Define key vehicle reference points using SAE and regulatory standards, then validate vision, legal compliance, and spatial constraints early in design stages via CAVA. Collaborate with studio design, safety, HVAC, body, and interior teams to integrate cross-functional requirements, while conducting ergonomic assessments through human modeling and simulation using RAMSIS to ensure optimal posture and ingress/egress. Lead packaging reviews, virtual buck reviews, and cross-functional forums, balancing trade-offs among styling, ergonomics, crash performance, manufacturability, and cost to meet global legal and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent industry experience) in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle architecture or packaging within the automotive industry
- Proven experience working on full vehicle design from concept to production
- Good understanding of vehicle regulations, ergonomics, and manufacturing feasibility
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, multicultural environment
- Advanced proficiency in occupant packaging tools such as RAMSIS, CAVA Vision / Safety / Legal, and CATIA V5/V6, Team center Viz Mock up
- Strong understanding of SAE standards (J1100, J826, J941) and global regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across departments and present to senior leadership
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 and Teamcenter
Desired Qualifications
- familiarity with other CAD/PLM systems (UG/NX, AutoCAD) is a plus
