Job Summary
ER Tech provides direct patient care in the emergency department under licensed staff supervision, performing clinical interventions (splint application, Foley catheter insertion, accuchecks, vital signs, EKGs, IV insertion) and assisting with patient transport. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, organized, and infection-controlled environment; accurate EMR documentation; effective communication with patients, families, and care teams; responding promptly to emergencies; using PPE and adhering to safety protocols; supporting unit operations with clerical tasks; and collaborating with ancillary services to ensure seamless patient care and departmental operations.
Required Qualifications
- Technical School completion of Nursing Assistant, EMT, Phlebotomy, or Medical Assistant courses required
- 0-1 years of clinical experience required
- EMT - Emergency Medical Tech required or LP - Licensed Paramedic required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
Desired Qualifications
- Emergency Department experience
- EMT certification or training
- CNA or Medical Assistant certification or training (preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred)
- Phlebotomy trained or certified personnel (preferred)
- BLS/CPR certification (implied by license requirements)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform under stress in an ER environment
