Job Summary

Provide direct patient care in the emergency department by performing clinical interventions such as splint application, Foley catheter insertion, blood glucose monitoring, vital sign collection, EKGs, and IV insertion under licensed clinical staff direction. Assist with patient transport to units, procedural areas, or discharge destinations while maintaining a clean, organized environment through infection control adherence and equipment restocking. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team, promptly reporting status changes, and document activities accurately in the Electronic Medical Record system. Respond to emergency situations promptly, utilize personal protective equipment, and perform assigned clerical tasks to support unit operations. Maintain regular attendance and comply with all policies and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical School completion of Nursing Assistant, EMT, Phlebotomy, or Medical Assistant courses
  • 0-1 years of clinical experience
  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly during stressful situations
  • Working knowledge in emergency management or other medical training
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines, sterile techniques and infection prevention procedures
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws, including but not limited to, HIPAA and EMTALA
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks according to unit's needs
  • Ability multi-task and prioritize work
  • Strong self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Tech
  • LP - Licensed Paramedic
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI)
