Job Summary

Perform CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes, ensuring proper patient identification, order verification, and exam preparation per department protocol. Operate CT equipment and related information systems to produce quality images, then review and evaluate scans for clarity and accuracy. Administer contrast media to patients as ordered by the physician, providing education on safety concerns. Maintain ARRT competency, adhere to radiation safety guidelines, and follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, and charging. Monitor equipment for failures and report issues promptly. This role supports the clinical team at Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton, Colorado, ensuring patients receive the best care within Intermountain Health's collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications

  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) Upon Hire
  • Basic Life Support within 60 Days
  • IV Competency within 90 Days
  • Licensure in state of practice as applicable, Upon Hire
  • ARRT (R)
  • Relevant State licensure (where required)
  • IV Competency within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Proficiency in 5 of the following areas: Computed Tomography Certification/Registration, Interventional CT, Cryo/microwave ablations, CT Coronary Angiography, TAVR, TMVR, Cardiac, Stroke perfusion imaging, Pediatric CT (less than 15yrs of age) in at least 80% of patient workload
  • Must complete a minimum of 5 cases per specialty procedure accompanied with documented skills pass off by a lead CT tech
  • Must complete the controlled substance module
  • Must complete the initial moderate sedation module
  • 3 + years CT experience
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
  • Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time

Desired Qualifications

  • For caregivers hired in this role in the State of Colorado, a Fluoroscopy License
  • 1-2 years of CT Experience
  • Certified Computed Tomography Technologist - American Registry of Radiography Technologists ARRT (R)(CT)
