Job Summary

Triage, assess, and treat patients of all ages presenting for emergency care, including broken bones, heart attacks, and strokes. Document pertinent nursing notes for condition changes, transfers, and discharges while administering medications per physician orders. Coordinate and triage incoming ambulance traffic, manage care with the primary ED attending, and respond to critical needs using the Emergency Severity Index 5-level triage algorithm. Educate patients and families regarding medications, procedures, and treatments throughout their stay. This MID Shift role requires 12-hour coverage (1:00 PM to 1:00 AM or 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM) with rotating holidays and weekends. Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification
  • At least 6 months prior RN experience
  • Previous Acute Care Hospital RN work experience
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 30 days of hire/transfer date
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification obtained within 30 days of hire/transfer date
  • Ability to triage, assess and treat patients of all ages presenting for emergency care
  • Understanding and knowledge of all care zones such as triage, rapid treatment area, carepath, pediatric ER, trauma, behavioral health, etc.
  • Responsibility for efficient throughput
  • Ability to coordinate and triage incoming ambulance traffic
  • Ability to manage care with primary ED attending
  • Responsibility for learning, understanding and use of the Emergency Severity Index 5-level triage algorithm
  • Ability to respond to critical needs as well as serve as a resource nurse for trauma
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to manage critical situations and make care based decisions
  • Ability to educate patients regarding their medications, procedure and treatments, providing patients and their families with support throughout their stay
  • Availability for MID Shift position
  • Shifts of 12 hours in length (1:00 PM to 1:00 AM or 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM coverage)
  • Willingness to work Rotating Holidays and Weekends

Desired Qualifications

  • Hospital sponsored opportunity to obtain the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification
  • Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) or other relevant Certifications
