Job Summary
ER Registrar handles patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department, including gathering and verifying personal, insurance, and medical information, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of records, and delivering high-quality customer service to patients and families. Responsibilities include greeting patients professionally, registering for emergency services, verifying insurance and eligibility, collecting co-pays, explaining and obtaining consent forms, ensuring proper armband identification, coordinating with physicians and administrative teams, maintaining documentation for billing, and supporting timely processing of visits. Skills and knowledge emphasized include strong communication and customer service, insurance verification, familiarity with electronic health records and registration software, attention to detail in fast-paced environments, handling confidential information, and ability to remain calm in high-stress or emergency situations. Post-secondary education or training in medical office/healthcare administration is preferred, and 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting or front desk/admissions is required.
