Job Summary
Equity Research VP for China Consumer focused on in-depth analysis of China’s consumer sector. Lead and collaborate on market and company analyses, build/maintain financial models and valuations, produce reports and presentations for internal/external stakeholders, partner with sales/trading for client insights, engage with industry contacts, monitor macro/regulatory factors, present findings to clients, contribute to thought leadership, and mentor junior analysts while ensuring compliance with regulations and firm policies.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in equity research or a related field, ideally with coverage of the consumer sector in Asia/China
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality research outputs and actionable insights under tight timelines
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques (e.g., DCF, comparables, sensitivity analyses)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to varied audiences
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and mentor junior colleagues
- Deep understanding of China's consumer market structure, key subsectors, and industry dynamics; familiarity with data sources and channel checks
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field; advanced degree a plus but not required for the role
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting equity research activities and publication standards; commitment to compliance
