Job Summary
Independently evaluate and underwrite equity loan applications by analyzing borrower creditworthiness, cash flow, collateral, and market conditions. Conduct in-depth risk assessments on financials, credit histories, property appraisals, and loan structures to prepare detailed credit analyses and make loan decisions within assigned approval limits. Ensure all decisions comply with internal credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements while escalating complex or high-exposure loans to senior management. Collaborate cross-functionally with processors, loan officers, and closers to resolve escalated issues and provide guidance to junior team members. Participate in workflow process improvements and contribute to policy development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2–5 years of experience in loan underwriting, with a focus on equity or real estate lending
- Solid understanding of credit risk analysis, financial statement interpretation, loan structures, and collateral evaluation
- Familiarity with lending regulations, compliance, and industry best practices
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Experience with loan origination and underwriting software
