Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment such as boom trimmers, mowers, excavators, tub grinders, and feller-bunchers to support right-of-way vegetation maintenance around power lines. Conduct pre-inspections of work area to identify hazards, load/unload vehicles and equipment from trailers with proper load securement, and perform ground-based cutting of brush, limbs and logs using hand saws, ground saws, and other tools. Collect and transport debris, perform routine and specialized maintenance on equipment, and comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and FMCSA standards. Set up traffic control (signs, barriers, flags, hand-signals) to protect workers and the public. Apply herbicides and growth regulators to brush and stumps where required, maintain application records, and assist with educating less experienced employees on safety practices. Must be able to work long hours including overtime during emergencies and travel as needed; safety culture and compliance with company policies emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
- Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s or commercial driver’s license (dependent upon Division and utility/contract requirements) and DOT medical card in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Maintain herbicide application certification or equivalent as required by Wright Tree Service and local, state, and federal law
- English language proficiency (read, write, speak) per job description
