Job Summary
Equipment Operator at Greenway Waste Solutions in Apex, NC, responsible for operating heavy-duty equipment (bulldozer, front-end loader, compactor) to excavate landfill areas, transport solid waste, spread and compact layers of waste and earth cover, direct incoming vehicles, monitor cargo for hazardous materials, segregate recyclables, and perform daily preventative maintenance while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines. Requires 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment operation, familiarity with waste and hazardous materials, and high school-level training; CDL preferred. The role emphasizes safe, environmentally compliant operations in an outdoor landfill setting with team collaboration and adherence to company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school or comparable occupational training
- Must have knowledge of techniques for safely operating heavy material moving equipment
- Must be familiar with waste and hazardous materials that could potentially cause a problem at the site
- Knowledge of the technical operation of heavy equipment would be helpful in making minor repairs or conducting preventative maintenance
- Must have two years' experience in operating heavy material moving equipment
- Three or more years of related reclamation, recycling and landfill machinery operations is preferred
- Experience working with hazardous materials would be helpful
- Experience operating a Rubber Tire Loader
- Skid Steer
- Tractor trailer parking in building
- Class A CDL preferred, but not required
