Job Summary
Lead the mining team to meet daily production goals by safely operating excavators, dozers, and loaders for excavation and material handling. Perform dirt moving and stripping tasks while conducting routine inspections, fueling, and minor maintenance on equipment. Collaborate with team members to achieve operational priorities, cross-train in other positions, and maintain a safe, clean work environment. Adhere strictly to MSHA and company safety regulations, promptly reporting any mechanical or safety issues. Work 12-hour shifts with weekend hours as necessary at the Jeffco location, with travel to various job sites required less than 10%.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years' experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, blades, and front-end loaders
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in small teams with a self-motivated, productive attitude
- Basic mechanical and math skills, plus the ability to conduct minor repairs and routine equipment maintenance
- Comfortable with 12-hour shifts and weekend work as required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- History of working with power tools, welders, cutting torches, chains, and necessary safety devices
- Experience operating heavy equipment in a plant environment
- Background in the aggregate or mining industry
- Frequent sitting and use of fine motor skills such as manual dexterity, hand / eye coordination, and active hearing and vision
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling as needed
- Regular exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smoke, gases, fumes, and aggregate materials
- Regular outdoor work with exposure to a range of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Travel to various job sites required as needed, less than 10%
- Adhere to all MSHA and company safety regulations
- This is a safety sensitive position, offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of fitness for duty assessments, including drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check
