Equipment Officer - Locomotive

Job Summary
Monitor locomotive and coach fleet condition and performance against regulatory, maintenance, and contractual standards. Assist in developing procurement requirements, design recommendations for new equipment acquisitions, and maintenance schedules for retrofits. Act as Project Leader for major modification programs while investigating equipment problems and recommending corrective actions. Provide technical support to maintenance contractors and establish procedures for new and existing equipment. This role supports the Rail Fleet Maintenance Office at the Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility, with potential rotation to Whitby and evening/weekend coverage. The position requires a diploma in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering Technology and experience with heavy locomotive maintenance. A valid Ontario class "G" driver's licence and Metrolinx Operator's permit are required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a diploma in Electrical /Electronic or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance, design and/or manufacturing of equipment used in railroad or transit operations.
- Demonstrated experience working with Heavy locomotive maintenance and passenger railway operations and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of system drawings including mechanical, electrical and structural drawings.
- Good organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of rules and regulations established by Transport Canada (TC), the Federal Railway Administration (FRA) and the American Association of Railways (AAR).
- Valid Ontario class "G" driver's licence and meet the corporate standard for a good driving record.
- Ability to obtain the Metrolinx Operator's permit.
- Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
Desired Qualifications
- Microsoft Office Suite Experience (Pivot tables, Macros) would be considered an asset.
- Microsoft PowerBI experience would be considered an asset.
- LEAN fundamentals training and/or experience would be an asset.
