Job Summary
Equipment Mechanic responsible for maintaining equipment at water and wastewater facilities, diagnosing and repairing pumps, blowers, motors, and vehicles. Performs routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments; inspects vehicles for road-worthiness and safety; reports operational problems to Lead/Supervisor; supports after-hours emergency calls; may assist with training new personnel. Spends 100% of time in shop or field environment with exposure to outdoor weather; requires CDL with tanker endorsement and safety awareness; manual dexterity to operate a range of tools and diagnostic instruments; strong teamwork and compliance with safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and safe driving record
- Specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance (automotive and truck mechanics, gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, valves, generators, welding)
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English; basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot a wide range of tools, instruments, and equipment used in fleet services
- Proficiency with Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Willingness to participate in after-hours emergency calls
- Ability to work in a team and handle additional responsibilities
- Experience with maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment (dump trucks, snowplow, salt spreader)
- Safety training and PPE proficiency
