Job Summary
The Group Leader oversees the canister preparation department, directing staffing, workflow planning, safety/compliance, and resource allocation to meet departmental and company goals. Responsibilities include leading safety culture, training staff, managing daily operations (canister cleaning, certification, assembly of sampling equipment, high-volume media preparation, equipment readiness), ensuring on-time shipment orders, and identifying workflow improvements. Drives quality standards, communicates with senior management on production issues, maintains inventory of canisters and sampling supplies, and provides leadership in performance evaluations, hiring decisions, and staff development. Strong emphasis on supervisory leadership, cross-functional collaboration with client-facing activities, and adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Requires BS in Science/Engineering, 4+ years of environmental/lab operations experience with leadership, knowledge of sampling equipment and TO-15 methods, proficiency in MS Office and LIMS, and ability to work Monday–Friday with overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Science, Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in environmental or laboratory operations, including supervisory/leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of canister/media preparation, cleaning, certification, and sampling equipment operations
- Familiarity with TO-15 methods and related sampling equipment (e.g., canisters, regulators, flow controllers) preferred
- Experience with inventory management systems and processes, including tracking of canisters, parts, and consumables
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with experience supervising assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sampling equipment
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and LIMS systems
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to staff and support client needs

- Demonstrated ability to supervise and occasionally perform operational tasks when necessary
- Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship
- Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work a full-time schedule (Monday–Friday), with flexibility for weekends and overtime as needed
- Professional working proficiency in English
