Job Summary
Inspect new and existing buildings, structures, and properties to enforce conformance with Parish codes. Monitor violation progress, process violations, write reports, and maintain all records pertaining to inspections and code enforcement actions. Prepare for case hearings by substantiating code violations with documented evidence. Interpret Parish regulations, collect and analyze information to prepare reports, and work independently with minimal supervision. Maintain a valid Louisiana driver's license and current required licenses throughout employment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience associated with law enforcement, security, or similar work in an enforcement-type regulatory field
- Valid Louisiana driver's license
- Driving record acceptable to Parish's Risk Manager
- Ability to interpret Parish regulations and procedures
- Ability to collect, and analyze information to prepare reports
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word
- Ability to learn and utilize department-specific software
- Required licenses kept current throughout employment with the Parish
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a nuisance abatement officer
- Experience as a litter control officer
