Job Summary

Coordinate implementation of Event-Based Surveillance activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and regional partners. Provide technical assistance for developing national guidelines, standard operating procedures, and training materials. Perform epidemiological data analysis, interpret project data, and communicate findings to surveillance officers at regional and district levels. Strengthen capacity of local officers on data interpretation and participate in project planning for monthly, quarterly, and annual activities. Prepare quality project reports for donors and maintain project databases. The role supports the Global Health Security Priorities project and Event-Based Surveillance System strengthening at sub-national levels. Applicants require an advanced degree in Epidemiology and minimum three years of experience in outbreak handling.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in Epidemiology, preferably Field Epidemiology
  • Minimum of 3 years in a busy Epidemiological settings and handling disease outbreaks and other Public Health Events of International Concern
  • Sufficient knowledge and skills in computer (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access) including Internet, Intranet, browsing skills and Strong presentation skills
  • Sufficient knowledge and skills in Event Based Surveillance, deep knowledge of public health and related subjects
  • Sufficient knowledge and skills in training, supervising and mentoring others in the profession including non- health personnel

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Development of scientific papers and epidemiological surveys
