Job Summary
Under the direction of the TB and Hansen's disease group manager, performs advanced epidemiological work including coordinating contact investigations, genotyping cluster investigations, and preparing epidemiologic reports on TB outbreaks. Serves as the subject matter expert for TB outbreak investigations, develops program protocols for TB outbreak management in settings such as academic institutions and congregate environments, and provides guidance to public health regions and local health departments. Utilizes data management and statistical tools (e.g., SAS, Excel) to monitor clusters, manage surveillance systems (TB GIMS), and produce actionable analyses. Engages in workforce development, training, and coordination of large-scale investigations, and supports public health planning with population data and epidemiologic linkages.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, or closely related field (Master's in epidemiology preferred)
- At least one year's work experience in epidemiologic investigations
- Valid and current Texas driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate background checks and clearances as required
- Willingness to travel at least 15% of the time
- Experience with epidemiologic methods, surveillance, and data analysis; proficiency with SAS and data management
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of genotyping, TB surveillance, and outbreak investigation concepts preferred
