Epic Project Manager / Scrum Master (Agile Coach)

Job Summary
Lead Epic implementation and optimization projects across healthcare organizations, serving as Scrum Master for Agile teams and as an Agile coach/facilitator. Partner with Epic analysts, clinicians, product owners, and executives to deliver strategic healthcare technology initiatives. Responsibilities include facilitating Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives), coaching teams on Agile principles and Lean delivery, maintaining healthy backlogs with Product Owners, removing impediments, managing scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies, developing delivery roadmaps, tracking Agile metrics (sprint velocity, burndown, throughput, team health), and providing executive status reporting. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational governance standards; mentor teams to raise Agile maturity and promote best practices. The role requires 5+ years in healthcare IT project management, 2+ years with Epic EMR implementations, and 3+ years in Scrum Master/Agile leadership roles; a Bachelor's degree is preferred and Epic module knowledge (Cadence, Prelude, Resolute, MyChart, Ambulatory, ClinDoc) is highly valued.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of healthcare IT project management experience
- 2+ years supporting Epic EMR implementations, upgrades, optimizations, or operational initiatives
- 3+ years serving as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Agile Project Manager
- Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean, and Agile delivery frameworks
- Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and coaching cross-functional teams
- Proven success managing multiple concurrent projects within healthcare environments
- Strong knowledge of Epic modules such as Cadence, Prelude, Resolute, MyChart, Ambulatory, ClinDoc, or related applications
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills
- Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar Agile management tools
- Ability to influence teams without direct authority
- Epic certification(s) (preferred)
- Healthcare consulting experience (preferred)
- Experience leading Agile transformations or organizational Agile maturity initiatives (preferred)
- Experience working within provider, hospital, health system, or academic medical center environments (preferred)
- Success in This Role: Lead strategic Epic initiatives from inception through delivery; Build high-performing Agile teams; Improve team effectiveness and delivery predictability; Facilitate collaboration between technical, operational, and clinical stakeholders
