Epic Integration Analyst

Job Summary
Epic Integration Analyst responsible for designing, building, and deploying FHIR R4 integrations for Epic-based healthcare environments. Tasks include developing Epic-to-national health record interfaces (medication orders, referrals, patient demographics, clinical summaries, HL7 CDA submissions), implementing SMART on FHIR and CDS Hooks within Epic, creating OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect flows for third-party apps, and owning workstreams from design through UAT, go-live, and post-implementation stabilization. Technical work includes production-quality backend coding in Java/Python/TypeScript, mapping HL7 v2 to FHIR resources, configuring HAPI FHIR/Azure Health Data Services, implementing Bulk FHIR pipelines, and troubleshooting across Epic sandbox and production environments. Collaboration with client IT leads, Epic Coordinators, and clinical informatics teams; delivering artefacts such as interface design documents, data flow diagrams, test plans, API runbooks, and go-live checklists; mentoring junior team members.
Required Qualifications
- 4–8 years of professional software engineering experience
- at least 2 years working with FHIR APIs, HL7 messaging, or EHR system integrations
- Proficiency in Java, Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or C#
- FHIR R4 resources, RESTful API design, JSON/XML
- OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect; SMART on FHIR or healthcare API
- HL7 v2 message structures and clinical data exchange standards
- client-facing, deadline-driven consulting environment experience
- English communication skills
- Epic certification (advantageous)
- Direct experience with Epic — Bridges, Interconnect, Chronicles or equivalent
- Familiarity with national health IT infrastructure or regional health data standards
- Experience with HAPI FHIR, Azure Health Data Services, or Google Cloud Healthcare API
- Knowledge of HL7 CDA document standards
