EPA Environmental Specialist

Job Summary
Conduct water, air, and indoor air quality sampling and monitoring. Lead a team in prescribed burns, such as wetlands. Organize outreach programs including recycling, educational activities, and community cleanups. Complete environmental objectives, goals, and activities for all Kaw Nation EPA Programs. Perform field work while adhering to safety procedures and attending out-of-state trainings. Submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check. This full-time role supports the EPA Director and Chair in Kaw City, OK, with a focus on community engagement and environmental stewardship.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in environmental science or a related field
- Ability to withstand outside harsh environments
- Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs
- Ability to set priorities, organize, and coordinate work efficiently
- Ability to establish good personal relations with other office workers
- Ability to work independently and creatively
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in written format
- Ability to prepare and present technically correct and detailed material through presentations
- Ability to lead a small team independently in field work
- Lab experience
- Understanding of safety procedures
- Ability to attend out-of-state trainings, certifications, and conferences
- At least eighteen years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Insurability status
- Ability to complete on-the-job training and certification
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
- Pass background check
