Job Summary
Environmental Technician to support hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, on-site operations at Fort Bliss (TX/NM), hazardous material collection/handling, spill response, and related duties. Requires safety‐driven, detail‐oriented teamwork, and compliance with federal/state regulations. Demands ability to operate government equipment, perform logs and surveillance reports, and train waste generators in RCRA awareness; includes CDL/Hazmat considerations and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in environmental or related field
- 40-hour HAZWOPER (OSHA Emergency Response) certification
- Valid driver’s license
- CDL with Hazmat Endorsement (for operators of vehicles >5 tons)
- OSHA 1910.120 requirements (first aid, respirator fit test, baseline physical)
- DOT training (49 CFR 172.704, every 3 years)
- OSHA HAZCOM and forklift training
- Ability to adapt across all aspects of HWFS operations
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, kneel, bend, climb, and work on slippery surfaces
- Effective interaction with coworkers and Fort Bliss personnel
