Job Summary
Environmental Technician II on 1st shift responsible for handling inbound waste streams, treating and processing waste with on-site equipment (including pit mixing, drum pumping, and drum dumping), and completing required paperwork per practices and procedures. Responsibilities include collecting samples of inbound waste for compatibility, unloading bulk liquid trucks to proper tanks, resolving issues with inbound loads, operating hi-lo and end loaders safely, and maintaining knowledge of waste streams and their treatment protocols. Requires ability to work outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled conditions; PPE is mandatory. Qualifications include 2+ years of hazardous materials experience and the ability to operate forklift and pallet jack, with strong attention to safety, documentation, and teamwork. Additional duties may include other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management and adapting to occasional night/weekend/variable schedules.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous materials
- Ability to operate equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack
- Visual acuity to read labels and documentation; depth perception to safely drive forklifts
- Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms
- Willingness and ability to wear company-issued personal protection equipment including safety glasses, hard hat, steel toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator
