Environmental Technician (IH Building Science)

Job Summary

Conduct hazardous material surveys, asbestos-containing materials assessments, and industrial hygiene testing services including air monitoring, mold, and radon analysis. Collect bulk and air samples for laboratory analysis, perform microscopic PCM analysis, and coordinate with gas and abatement contractors while supervising field activities. Maintain client schedules, input data, and write regulatory-compliant technical reports. Requires NIOSH 582 certification and Bachelor's degree; entry-level role with non-standard shifts including nights and weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science (Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geology, etc.)
  • Associates of Science acceptable with 1 year of experience
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Willing and active company Health & Safety participant
  • Be on time to work and available to work non-standard shifts, including nights and weekends with prior notice
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and PDF editing software
  • NIOSH 582 certified analysist for PCM analysis in the field and office, data input, and report writing
  • OEPA Certified Asbestos Hazard Evaluation Specialist License
  • ODH Certified Lead Risk Assessor License
  • OSHA Certified 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • LBP inspector/monitor certifications
  • NIOSH 582 course completion

  • Ability to lift up to 20-25 pounds

  • Ability to don personal fall arrest safety systems and harnesses
  • Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying field equipment
  • Ability to withstand temperature extremes while properly wearing PPE
  • Physical job locations may be located in dusty/moldy/hazardous/unclean/unsanitary environments (with proper PPE)
  • Ability to wear a respirator properly for an extended period of a work shift
  • Bending, being on knees, stooping
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • Potential to work mid or nightshifts when working on a job specific project
  • Work Shifts may extend 8 to 12 hours
