Job Summary
Conduct on-site fieldwork for sampling, monitoring, and recording environmental data while maintaining Pick-N-Pull facilities in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Operate pollution control equipment, manage storm water systems, and enter data into the CA online portal. Deliver training programs, provide immediate emergency responses to spills and releases, and assist with site investigations and remediation projects. Prepare and submit permit documents and reports to regulatory agencies on time. Maintain environmental records, manage inventory of control infrastructure, and oversee consultant and contractor work. Spend approximately 80% of time in the field driving continuous improvement and conducting routine EPIP inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two to five years' experience with environmental regulations and sampling for testing air, water, soil, hazardous waste, and materials
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Ability to drive an automobile
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental programs and regulations with approved sampling techniques and procedures
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with environmental management systems
- Proficiency with environmental testing or analytical equipment
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems; collect data; establish facts; draw valid conclusions in controlled situations
- Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications
- 18 years of age or older (U.S. applicants)
- 16 years of age or older (Canada applicants)
- Completion of a post-offer drug screen
- Completion of a background check
- Review and sign an Arbitration Agreement
- Ability to walk/climb in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces
- Comfort with heights
- Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions
- Regional and domestic travel
- Ability to respond to urgent situations on off hours and/or weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to be mobile within an office and field environment
- Ability to operate an automobile
- Ability to travel frequently by auto and airplane to local and regional locations
- Ability to climb
- Ability to negotiate uneven surfaces
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to keyboard for up to several hours per day
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner in person and by phone
- Visual acuity for extensive reading, examining documents, conducting field sampling related activities, operating an automobile, and operating a laptop computer
Desired Qualifications
- Engineering or science background including environmental science, chemistry, geology, biology
- Sufficient education or experience in technical field work
- Training or certification in hazardous materials handling, clean-up, or response
