Job Summary
Environmental Technician role focused on environmental contamination assessment and remediation fieldwork. Responsible for collecting groundwater and surface water samples, supporting field, laboratory, and office activities, maintaining clear field notes, overseeing drilling investigations including utility locates and drawings, preparing data tables and health and safety plans, complying with safety requirements, liaising with clients, and coordinating travel primarily within Southern Ontario with potential US locations; requires a college diploma in a relevant Earth Science/Civil Engineering field, knowledge of hydrogeology sampling, valid First Aid/AED, vehicle ownership and driver's license, strong organization and communication skills, and ability to work in a high-field environment with a heavy travel component.
Required Qualifications
- College Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program or other relevant field
- Working knowledge of hydrogeology field testing and sampling techniques
- Valid First Aid/AED Training certification considered an asset
- Competence in operation of 4-wheel off road vehicles and use of a trailer to transport off road vehicles to site locations considered an asset
- Must own a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license
- Adaptable and analytical
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Great teammate, cooperate with other staff
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines; and
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with clear well written notes
