Job Summary
Clean patient exam rooms, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, halls, and other facility areas. Replace soiled drapes and cubicle curtains, distribute laundered linens, and replenish paper goods and supplies in waiting and staff areas. Disinfect and sterilize equipment using germicides, transport trash and hazardous waste to disposal areas, and maintain stock of cleaning appliances and supplies. Perform general upkeep of facility floors and utility/storage rooms while complying with infection prevention practices and accreditation policies. Work in an ambulatory healthcare setting requiring full standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to infectious materials.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of janitorial/housekeeping practices and procedures used in health care facilities
- Knowledge of germicides, disinfectants, cleaning supplies, etc. used in providing environmental services in a health care facility
- Knowledge of infection prevention practices in a health care environment
- Knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the performance of position duties
- Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions
- Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible janitorial training or experience
- General working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repair
- Ability to courteously and effectively communicate with patients, visitors, co-workers and others that may occupy the facility at any time
