Environmental Specialist

Job Summary
Develop and maintain environmental compliance programs ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. Monitor permits for air, water, stormwater, and hazardous materials while conducting inspections, audits, and assessments to drive corrective actions. Prepare regulatory reports, manage waste storage and disposal, and investigate incidents to implement preventive measures. Provide compliance training, assist with permitting activities, and evaluate performance metrics to recommend process improvements. Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to support sustainability initiatives and safety programs within Manufacturing Operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
- Three to five years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or related environment
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and DNR regulations
- Experience with environmental permitting, inspections, audits, and reporting requirements
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management and environmental recordkeeping practices
- Experience with sustainability reporting and environmental data management systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
- Solid core values and commitment to environmental stewardship
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of wastewater, air emissions, and stormwater compliance programs
- Diverse experience conducting environmental training and regulatory audits
- Experience in manufacturing, concrete products, construction materials, or industrial operations
- OSHA 30 certification
- Safety program experience in a manufacturing setting
- Advanced environmental or safety certifications
