Environmental Specialist

Job Summary
Conduct groundwater and surface water field monitoring at the FPL Turkey Point Nuclear Plant, collecting samples from wells and stations while coordinating with laboratory personnel and contractors. Perform manual data downloads, troubleshoot sampling equipment, and manage detailed record keeping for field logs and lab reports. Maintain on-site instruments including probes, pumps, and flowmeters, and occasionally operate off-road vehicles and aquatic vessels. Assist with basic laboratory calibrations, data mining, and office housekeeping duties as needed. Work 10-40 hours weekly with potential overtime, requiring a valid driver's license and ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, more specifically Excel and Word functions
- Must be able to work in the field 8-10 hour days
- Experience working in extreme weather conditions including high humidity and hot temperatures for long hours
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs
- Boating License and Training Required
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or related field
- Environmental field technician or laboratory experience
- Experience operating airboats or marine boats
- Knowledge and Understanding of FDEP SOP's
- Strong knowledge of environmental field equipment maintenance and calibration
- Experience with monitoring groundwater and surface water using multiple sampling techniques
