Job Summary
Conduct floor care tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing various surfaces. Collect, remove, and dispose of biohazardous, infectious, and noninfectious waste following regulatory guidelines. Handle soiled linens, replace them with clean bags, and ensure proper containment. Clean patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas while responding to spills and contamination cleanups. Move furniture, mats, and equipment as needed for maintenance or relocations. Monitor cleaning supply usage, practice expense control, and maintain accurate logs. Communicate maintenance and repair needs to the supervisor or facilities department. Maintain regular attendance and comply with all policies and standards. Requires 1-3 years of experience in environmental services or hospital facility maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques
- Ability to safely handle biohazardous and infectious waste in compliance with infection control standards
- Familiarity with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and proper usage
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules effectively
- Knowledge of hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety procedures for environmental services
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare setting
- Good communication skills to interact with staff, patients, and visitors in a professional manner
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in Environmental Services or Healthcare Cleaning (such as CHEST or CHESP certification)
