Job Summary
Clean patient and non-patient areas, polish furniture and fixtures, and arrange equipment as directed. Vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop floors using ride-on, walk-behind, or manual machines for scrubbing, buffing, and polishing surfaces including carpet, wood, marble, and tile. Collect, remove, and transport trash and recyclables to designated areas, disposing of biochemical waste in accordance with OSHA and DOT standards. Operate light power equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain adequate supply stock in bathrooms and storage. Greets patients, families, and coworkers while practicing infection control procedures and maintaining security by locking and unlocking doors. Assigned to clean and disinfect surgical, procedural, and specialized areas such as Sterile Processing, with potential assistance using UV light.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions
- Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50-75 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist
- Lifting 75 lbs max
- Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs
- Occasional to frequent standing & walking
- Occasional sitting
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Shift work
- Travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous environmental services or custodial experience
