Job Summary
Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner. Transport trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal areas, replenish supplies, and remove soiled linens while delivering and unloading clean linens. Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure, maintain and adhere to housekeeping detail standards, and report safety hazards as appropriate. Follow all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene. Work day, evening, or night shifts as assigned, and assist visitors with directions while introducing yourself to patients, families, and visitors. Maintain a good rapport with physicians, health plans, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and lift 50+ pounds repetitively
- Constant walking and standing
- Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting
- Occasional squatting, bending, and twisting
- Must be able to work around cleaning products
- Visual abilities, auditory abilities, must be intact
- Physical dexterity to perform repetitive duties
- Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision
- Ability to stoop, climb, and handle tools and equipment as required
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1-year experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
