Job Summary
Manage Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance departments while maintaining excellent interdepartmental skills and adhering to established schedules. Oversee programs, goals, policies, and procedures to keep the facility safe, sanitary, and compliant with Federal, State, and local regulations. Utilize knowledge of cleaning chemicals, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to lead staff and handle difficult situations tactfully. Work full-time in a well-lit, ventilated nursing facility, dealing with residents, personnel, and government agency representatives under frequent interruptions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a leadership role and with supervising other employees
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and procedures in the healthcare / long-term care environment
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
- Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to the facility
- The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel and the general public
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to handle difficult situations
- The ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. that are necessary for maintaining the facility in a safe and sanitary manner
- Willingness to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
- Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Will require fine motor skills and visual and aural acuity
