Job Summary
Cleans assigned patient and public areas daily, including collecting and removing trash and sanitizing all surfaces. Stocks paper items, cleaning solutions and other supplies in assigned areas. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and proper operation of cleaning equipment. Uses Bed Management system and hand-held technology to support bed throughput. Operates cleaning/trash carts and other janitorial supplies. Collects and stages soiled linen, disposes of normal and biohazardous waste, and disinfects areas containing bodily fluids per facility standards. Documents all work performed and may access ancillary units, restrooms, and offices in assigned areas. Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets, product labels, various reports, and perform basic arithmetic. Requires knowledge of environmental services concepts and strong customer service with the ability to interact with patients. Previous environmental services experience in a healthcare environment is preferred and language skills beyond English are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Experience in environmental services or janitorial in healthcare settings (preferred)
- Ability to communicate in English
- Basic computer skills and aptitude with standard office software
- Knowledge of infection control and cleaning/disinfection procedures
- Ability to read and follow safety data sheets and product labels
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic
- Ability to work night shift and weekend schedule
- Attention to detail and strong customer service
- Ability to interact with patients and staff respectfully
