Job Summary
Conduct daily cleaning of walls, windowsills, and floors using appropriate chemical solutions and the seven-step cleaning procedure. Sanitize patient care units, including beds and controls, upon discharge and maintain hard surface floors through dusting, damp mopping, and burnishing. Manage linen logistics by transporting soiled carts with universal precautions, delivering clean linen, and assisting laundry providers while adhering to infection control guidelines. Complete daily work assignments, area check sheets, and beeper logs, and participate in monthly staff meetings. Transport soiled linen directly to the designated area and maintain telephone logs for service requests.
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Some experience in housekeeping
- Linen maintenance experience
- Industrial/hotel experience
- Healthcare experience
- Experience with carpet care such as vacuuming, spot cleaning, and bonneting
- Knowledge of hard surface floor care, dust, damp mopping and burnishing/buffing
- Knowledge of correct use and appropriate dilution of chemicals
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and disinfecting of patient care units by following 7 steps cleaning procedures
- Experience communicating and working with floor tech
- Ability to attend and participate in monthly department staff meetings
- Ability to complete daily work assignments and area check sheets
- Ability to follow Bed Tracking Procedures
- Ability to load carts to part level and record information
- Ability to count returns from previous delivery and record information
- Ability to deliver clean linen carts to floors as schedule or assigned
- Ability to assure all linen carts are clean and covered at all times
- Ability to maintain telephone log, record linen and service requests
- Ability to adhere to the clean distribution schedule and collect solid linen as schedule daily
- Ability to transport soiled linen directly to soiled linen area
- Ability to transport soiled linen using universal precautions
- Ability to properly follow all infection control guidelines
- Ability to assist Laundry provider with loading and unloading clean and soiled linen carts
- Ability to follow hand washing procedures performed after removal of gloves and prior to handling clean linen
