Job Summary
Conduct general and aseptic cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms, auxiliary rooms, and other specified areas throughout the hospital using proper guidelines. Scrub, mop, and buff floors; dust and polish furniture; clean glass windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures; clean kitchen sinks, tables, and dining areas; and remove trash to designated stations. Use appropriate cleaning supplies and chemicals according to departmental procedures while following all applicable schedules, sanitation, and safety requirements. Maintain assigned areas in a neat, clean, and sanitary condition. Attend 85% of monthly staff meetings annually. Walk up to 6-7 hours daily and stand for 1-2 hours while occasionally lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
- Three to six months of experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting
- Ability to follow all applicable schedules, sanitation and safety requirements
- Walks for up to 6-7 hours/day
- Stands for 1-2 hours/day
- Occasional firm grasping
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally carries up to 50 lbs
- Frequent pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally stoop, bend, squat and kneel
- Occasional crouching
- Frequently reaches above shoulder level
- Hearing as it relates to normal conversation
- Seeing as it relates to general and near vision
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred
- Three to six months of experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting preferred
