Environmental, Security, Fire Systems Technician

Job Summary
Plans and coordinates the installation, repair, and operation of all security and fire systems. Reviews confidential security records for various issues. Assists with electronic instrumentation for environmental operation of mechanical or electrical HVAC and building control equipment. Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs computer energy management programs, Direct Digital Controls (DDC), and fire monitoring systems. Essential duties include coordinating installation and maintenance of security and fire systems; reviewing building security and access records; assisting with energy management programs and DDC; learning to operate equipment such as security cameras, FOB access, intercom, and related systems; determining set points and daily operating programs to ensure proper operation; developing specifications for nonstandard apparatus; estimating preventative maintenance costs; advising on material selection and work details; performing maintenance and repairs; testing fire detection, sprinkler, and cooking fire suppression systems; inspecting and maintaining central intercom/bell/clock systems; coordinating extinguisher inspections and recharges; communicating with occupants about operational issues; complying with safety procedures and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; five years of successful experience with security and fire systems controls or related experience and/or training
