Job Summary
Senior-level Environmental Scientist III responsible for providing technical oversight of environmental field activities, including UST/AST investigations, removals, and installations, and coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and general contractors. Role includes leading soil, groundwater, and air sampling, preparing and reviewing technical reports and proposals, assisting with project management (scheduling, budgeting, client communications), supporting emergency response, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with a range of commercial, industrial, and government clients across the Mid-Atlantic. Requires a BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field, 4+ years of experience, 40-hour HAZWOPER, and willingness to travel locally; Maryland/DC regulatory familiarity preferred; proficiency with Microsoft 365 and a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related scientific field
- 4+ years of environmental consulting or related industry experience with strong technical writing and field oversight responsibilities
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required (current 8-hour refresher preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel locally to project sites
- Experience with UST/AST systems, environmental sampling, remediation oversight, and subcontractor coordination preferred
- Familiarity with Maryland/DC environmental regulations and tank programs is highly preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in both field and office environments
- Ability to mentor and train junior staff
- Strong commitment to health and safety with a solid understanding of safe field practices
