Job Summary
Conduct contaminated site characterization, monitoring, and remediation assessments by sampling groundwater, soil, sediment, and air while traveling in aircraft, motor vehicles, ATVs, and watercraft. Document field operations using photography, handwritten notes, and tablets, then prepare work plans, technical reports, and proposals. Oversee subcontractors, inspect job sites for safety and specifications, and lead or assist project teams in executing tasks across office and remote field locations. Adhere to project schedules, financial objectives, and environmental regulations while communicating daily reports to program managers.
Required Qualifications
- environmental science, biology, hydrology, chemistry, or other physical or life science background
- willingness to travel periodically
- Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Environmental Sciences or a similarly related field
- US Citizen
- Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DoD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicle
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint Online
- Adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing
- Zero (0) to Three (3) years of relevant professional working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experience
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant professional working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experience
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant professional working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experience
- Eight (8) or more years of relevant professional working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experience
- Qualified Environmental Professional or equivalent professional registration
- Ability to prepare technical communications, plans, and reports with minimal editing and corrections
- Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one's ability using his or her drive or initiative
- Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word
- Ability to communicate effectively with others in written form, including emails and reports
- Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines

- good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials
- 40% - 60% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations
- 30% - 50% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations
- 20% - 40% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations
- 10% - 25% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or as business/operational needs dictate
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in other programs such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, GIS, databases, and environmental modeling programs
- DEC-qualified environmental professional
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER
- 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher
- CPR/1st Aid/AED Certified
- Experience working on projects for USACE, AFCEC, and other DoD/Federal clients
- Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures
