Job Summary
Environmental Scientist I to assist with remediation projects, bioremediation-focused solutions, and fieldwork involving sampling (air, water, soil, sediment) and data analysis. Collaborate with scientists, geologists, and engineers to develop remediation strategies; prepare technical reports, work plans, and project specifications; assist in overseeing drilling, logging soil cores, and overseeing field crews. Travel up to 25-30% to perform field tasks and support equipment operation in accordance with SOPs. Requires 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), BS in a related science, and proficiency with Word and Excel.
Required Qualifications
- BS – Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Earth Sciences, or Related
- 0 to 3 years of experience in Environmental Scientist role
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Able to obtain site access to secure areas such as Federal or State sites
- Ability to employ common field practices involving drilling, groundwater sampling, and excavation oversight
- Ability to read and understand maps, schematic drawings, diagrams, and instruction manuals
- Proficiency using Word and Excel applications
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Experience with field equipment such as water quality monitoring instruments, photoionization detectors (PIDs), and global positioning systems (GPS) units
