Environmental Scientist

Job Summary
Coordinate field visits with clients and regulatory agencies to conduct soil, hydrology, and vegetation inventories, species assessments, and plant identifications. Prepare environmental permit applications, complete compliance monitoring, and document field investigation results. Develop project execution strategies, create plans and maps for regulatory approvals, and support proposal preparation and budget adherence. Evaluate site conditions to select wetland identification and mitigation strategies while ensuring adherence to Florida environmental regulations. Requires 5-10 years of experience, proficiency in ArcMap/GIS and AutoCAD, and ability to perform regular field work in seasonal conditions with occasional statewide travel.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, or related field
- 5-10 years' relwork experience
- Capability to execute and coordinate environmental permitting and environmental assessment activities with internal/external clients and regulatory agencies
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Regular field work in a variety of seasonal conditions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Local and occasional statewide travel
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with ArcMap/GIS, AutoCAD and/or Microstation
- Knowledge of Florida environmental regulations and permitting, Regulation submittals, Wetland or Environmental design, EPA Rapid Bio-Assessment, and a NEPA background
- Professional Wetland Scientist Certification
- Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent or ability to obtain within 3 months
