Job Summary

Develop Joint Permit Applications for impacts to federal and state waters by coordinating with environmental staff, senior scientists, and project managers. Communicate directly with regulatory agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and local wetland boards to process and negotiate issuance. Submit completed permits for review while managing dynamic project timelines and meeting strict deadlines. Requires strong technical writing skills and familiarity with Virginia surface water regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, Environmental Law, or policy related discipline
  • Two to Four years of Environmental Science
  • Experience in the Natural Resources field with an emphasis on wetland and stream permitting and its associated regulatory processes involving but not limited to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), and local wetland boards (LWB)
  • Firm understanding of regulatory processes related to surface waters in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Must be organized
  • Strong verbal and technical writing skills
  • Ability to read technical literature and engineering plans

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of regulations associated with threatened and endangered species, as well as cultural resources
