Job Summary
Conduct daily inspections of facilities, vessels, and piers to identify unsafe conditions or environmental violations, then submit required reports. Represent the company during inspections, investigations, and stakeholder interactions while ensuring compliance with maritime safety policies and procedures. Lead safety meetings and training sessions on topics including respiratory fit testing, fall protection, and industrial hygiene testing. Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, review Job Hazard Analysis sheets, and enforce appropriate hazard controls to minimize risks. Ensure the availability of safety equipment and perform related administrative duties. Work independently and as part of a team across office, shipyard, and customer facility locations.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
- 2+ Years experience in the Maritime Industry
- Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations within the Maritime Industry
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures with regards to safety and environmental policies and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents relevant to customer, company or local, state and federal safey and environmental regulations such as Waste Sheets and Safety Data Sheets
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
- Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA 5410 Maritime Standards - preferred
- HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour - preferred
- OSHA 521 Industrial Hygiene - preferred
- OSHA 3115 Fall Protection - preferred
- OSHA 3095 Low Voltage - preferred
- Shipyard Competent Person (Gas Free) preferred
