Job Summary

Conduct environmental due diligence reviews for commercial real estate and credit transactions, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation reports, and regulatory database findings. Assess consultant report adequacy, identify transactions requiring enhanced review, and recommend risk mitigation strategies such as indemnifications, reserves, or environmental insurance. Partner with underwriting, portfolio management, and legal teams to evaluate collateral value, borrower repayment capacity, and regulatory compliance throughout the credit lifecycle. Prepare risk summaries for credit files and committees, document decisions, and coordinate with external environmental vendors. Support the bank's environmental risk management framework by developing screening criteria and participating in internal audits and regulatory examinations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–7+ years of relevant experience in environmental risk management, environmental consulting, commercial real estate due diligence, commercial credit, or a related field
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Phase I and Phase II environmental reports

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in environmental, engineering, or business-related discipline
  • Experience supporting environmental due diligence in a commercial banking, credit, lending, or real estate finance environment
  • Experience with contaminated properties, remediation monitoring, and environmentally sensitive industries
  • Familiarity with ASTM environmental site assessment standards and commercial real estate transaction due diligence practices
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulatory programs at the federal and state level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and environmental/credit tracking systems
