Environmental Regulatory Compliance Student (Calgary & Field)

Job Summary
Coordinate regulatory applications, reports, and responses to information requests from regulators. Assist with data compilation and basic analysis for regulatory reporting, while preparing project information for presentation to stakeholders. Contribute to documentation supporting Indigenous consultation and help prepare communication materials for communities. Support field and office-based activities, including tracking approval conditions for compliance and monitoring regulatory updates to communicate changes in requirements. This four-to-eight-month student work term begins in May 2027, with rotations between Calgary and Fort McMurray. Candidates must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license and be enrolled in their third or fourth year of an Engineering, Science, Forestry, or Environmental Science program.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in your 3rd or 4th year of a program in Engineering, Science, Forestry or Environmental Science or the equivalent of Political Science, Law and Society Program
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Attention to detail to generate high quality work requiring minimal revisions
- Strong written communication skills to review and appropriately condense key elements of external correspondence and regulatory decisions
- Strong organizational skills required to coordinate and schedule multiple, concurrent activities related to report and application submissions and reporting to stakeholders
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
- Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office (4 months) & Fort McMurray, AB (4 months)
- Shift schedules: 5 days on, 2 days on, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday) in Calgary
- Shift schedules: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/day (Monday – Thursday) in Fort McMurray
- Term lengths: 4 or 8 months
- Term start: May 2027

Desired Qualifications
- knowledge of statistical programs would be an asset (i.e. Mini Tab software)
